The Double Hotcake has two Hotcakes ‘A’ and ‘B’ in one box.

The A is a ‘+Cream’ version, and the B is the classic version (the “+Cream” voicing of the Hotcake has a less buzzy edge at the onset of distortion, and is good for using with lower Drive settings

Both have three knobs and a footswitch as with regular Hotcakes.

If both Hotcakes are switched on together, the A Hotcake drives the B Hotcake, and its controls are bypassed, but an extra Drive control is switched in to adjust the A side Gain.

There is also an extra clipping stage and a reduction in low frequency drive to make for a better lead sound in the high gain situation.

There is also an extra Presence boost when both A and B sides are switched in.

With all three Drive controls set to minimum as a mostly clean boost, with the A side Presence as minimum, and the B side Presence set at maximum, you’ll have three tonal options;

A only for Clean boost, controlled by its Level control.

B side only for clean and Presence boost.

A+B for boost with extra clean boost with more pronounced Presence boost

The A Hotcake has the usual buffered bypass (the circuit becomes a buffer in bypass mode), while the B Hotcake is hard bypassed using gold plated relay contacts.
