Drawing inspiration from the best instruments of the 1960s, our newest offering in the I-35 lineup provides an exceptionally loose and organic feel, achieved through a ground up reworking of everything from its laminate and center block recipes to its neck construction. Custom Throbak pickups and Bumblebee capacitors bring its open, acoustic response to life, expanding its versatility and proving that, although it looks every bit the part of a time-tested instrument, its appeal is more than just skin deep.”
Semi-hollow Construction
In order to achieve the loose feel and dynamic response of a long-played vintage instrument, Collings fully reengineered their laminate and center block recipes for the I-35 LC Vintage.
Electronics
Era-appropriate while delivering clarity at every volume is a set of Throbak ESG-102B humbuckers tweaked to a custom Collings spec specifically for the I-35 LC Vintage, all complemented by a set of Luxe Bumblebee capacitors.
Aged Finish and Hardware
Every I-35 LC Vintage sports Collings’s aged finish and aged hardware, an in-house developed process designed to give a truly time-worn look and feel.
Neck Design
An altered truss rod curve and carefully chosen materials specific to the Vintage based on grain orientation, weight, and density are just a couple of the aspects that contribute to its expressive and organic feel and tone.
Vintage Appointments
Black reflector top knobs and a wide-bevel 3-ply pickguard complement the aged finish and hardware.
Playability
A combination of exacting PLEK machine leveling and hand fret dressing ensures consistently excellent playability and a silky fret feel.
Precision Tuning
Custom engraved Gotoh SG-301 tuners offer precise tuning and reliable closed-back operation with a smooth 1:18 gear ratio.
